DNC Thanksgiving Eve 2007

July 17, 2008

The DNC went crazy last night, as is customary on Thanksgiving Eve.

Last Year we started his insane tradtion….

Where it all began.

The Co-Founders who invented all DNC Holidays.

Jordan’s Holiday Sweater was so insane that we almost had to fight an entire collegiate football team because of it.

This year, we aimed at perfecting it…

The tradition runs deep! Every year, we have a drunken Mexican in a cheesy sweater fall asleep at the Bronx Bar. Last year, Jordan took the honors. This year, Vincent is the winner!

Here are the Founders of the DNC with the Sleeping Mexican

My consigliere and I debating what to do with this guy.

We decided to give him to Eddie and Kara to forcibly drink more.

You can dress him up but you can’t take him anywhere.

Ending the night on a good note

Special Thanks to my co-founder Hyper for taking many pictures and organizing the event.

Gustavo Rocha – Birthday 2007

July 17, 2008
This past weekend was “just right,” so to speak. What I mean by that is that it was a good blend of socializing and quality time spent relaxing at home. Friday night, while Vincent, Chris, and Kris were out galavanting at the Derrick Tavern, I was at a friend’s house watching “Waiting” (not really) and drinking a good bottle of red wine. It was a spectacle as I got home because it seemed like we all got there at the same time, cracking jokes until the wee hours of the morning.Saturday was a different story. My brother and I had our customary Saturday morning brunch at Filipiniana and hit up some shopping on Harwin on the way back home. From then on, it was a relaxing afternoon until we had to get ready for Gustavo Rocha’s birthday, which was held at Club Drake, a new club out towards the Heights. David (Futa) put together an amazing time for us, complete with bottle service and a corner table. From what I can remember, the whole group had plenty of fun crashing and burning that night. As far as Club Drake, well… let’s just save the disparaging and sincerely hateful comments for later. Let’s just say that it’s not my favorite club in Houston. They certainly pull in a crowd though. We’ll see how they do….

Sunday went as Sunday goes. Lots of sitting around the living room for my brother, Chris, and I. I skipped the company softball game out of laziness, and watched a few movies – Chronicles of Riddick, etc. Sprinkle in a little xbox action, grocery shopping, and cooking a fully-complemented steak lunch and that was roughly my whole day. Good enough for me.

Now here. Take a look at some pics from Gustavo’s Birthday Party and a few from the gun range last weekend.

DNC Halloween Celebration 2007

July 17, 2008

You wanna know how I felt Halloween Saturday? Go download “It’s Business Time” by Flight of the Concords. LOL. I had the most fun time I’ve had in awhile wildin’ out at Crome with everyone in their fun costumes. For real. Go check it out.

Halloween night was an invigorating experience. Every time the founders of the DNC, Hyper and I, get into anything, its like spontaneous combustion. We just go out and kill it. Last night was no different. We wrecked shop at Sam’s Boat on Richmond. From the DNC Double-Down of bullblasters upon our entrance, the night kept getting crazier and crazier. I’m sure coming in nothing but silk boxers, top hat, and trench coat fueled that a little for me personally, but everyone had a good time! Heck, Chad even made it into the finals of the costume contest. And the most hilarious thing that happened on Halloween night (not pictures) didn’t even happen until after we got home. My brother, Vincent, and I, invariably because of our rather loose consumption of alcoholic beverages, ended up grubbin’ down in the kitchen. That part isn’t unusual. But when my brother started shaking his ass, which he affectionately referred to as his “machine gun bubble butt,” Vince and I started laughing so hard that we were crying for literally 20 minutes. That was hilarious! Ahhh… good times! Anyways, here are some pictures…

Christopher Reinig’s Birthday Dinner at Mark’s American

July 17, 2008

Mark’s American Cuisine for Chris’ birthday was the a great idea. An old church converted as a gourmet American restaurant on Westheimer/Dunlavy, Mark’s is awesome. The menu, which is changed by the chef twice daily, was to die for. My ultimate respect to Chef Mark Cox. Also, Mark’s had a really good wine list. Most importantly, we got to just spend time with close friends and mentors. It’s too bad there is a numeral limit on making reservations for Friday, on Friday. Otherwise, Chris would have loved to have more of his close friends there. Eric, Hai, and Gus made it. Mark came in from Waco, and Lauren from New Jersey did likewise. Eric P. and Kristi came while my brother and I rounded out the group.

For dinner, I had the duck and the cornish game hen. Reinig started us off with some cabernet (Constant) after a few drinks at the bar. We progressed into Pinot Noir with the entrees and of course, Port, en route to dessert. It was a really REALLY good dinner with really good people. For good reason as well. Our best friend Chris, who, despite our rare disagreements, is a person I feel blessed to know as a friend, brother, and mentor (even though he might not know it, lol). And did I mention Chris took care of the whole tab for the table? A nearly $2,000 dinner to show your appreciation to your friends on YOUR birthday?! Who does that?!?! We’re blessed. ALL of us. We have such a good group of friends. Love you guys!

Renegades & Afterparty at Fix

July 17, 2008

Renegades on Saturday night was non-eventful. My hats off to Tim Snyder, who beat our man Steve Garcia for the featherweight title. No excuses from the boys at Elite MMA. Steve trained hard and was dictating the fight for the better part of 3 rounds but got caught with a well-placed left hook that hit on the button. What can you do you know? We as a group didn’t even stay for the rest of the event. In fact, I was bummed and didn’t event want to party at all at first. But well… let’s just say we mourned our loss at Fix.
