DNC Moves to Dubai

July 24, 2008

I’m told moving comes in second to divorce in the competition for ultimate shitty things to do in life. I agree..

Maybe thats worded poorly, I’ll work on the wording later.

On the brighter side, I’ve been finding all of mike’s hidden crap left from his stay at the westchase house. Several size small wife beaters were unearthed along with an odd assortment of jackets. This is not to speak of the toys that closely resembled anal beads found beneath his old bed. Does anyone remember “Church Girl”? I do!

In any event, the DNC will be opening its chapter in Dubai in the coming weeks. In a place such as dubai, the ranks are sure to become global. We spread as a meme amongst the week minded. We are an attitude of the most contagious sort.

Cheers

Lake Austin Party Barge Weekend

July 17, 2008

June 27 was D-Day for the start of an amazing summer vacation. Even as I crashed the PC lunch meeting, I was already in party mode with my two giant margaritas… ..a prelude to my first vacation power nap. After that, my logistics almost worked in that I  had 5 out of 7 road trippers ready to leave on time. Despite the wait, we had fun with the ATX pre-party at the house since Lori, Christina, and Karen came over to drink tons of Red Bull and chill out. They ended up spending the night in my room as we left them behind to go to Austin around eight.

Damon, Sarah, and Andy all drove so it was an every-man-for-themselves scramble down I-10 and 290 all the way to Hilton in downtown Austin. By the time check-in was all said and done, we ended up having four rooms. The girls had their room on the private floor on the 26th and the rest of us were scattered on the 23rd. Recipe for disaster much?

Drinking commenced without a hitch. Actually for passenger me, it started before we left with Johnny walker green. Johnny was a good road trip companion that’s for sure. And upon getting to the room, a quick pre-party across an entire floor was all we needed before unleashing hell on Sixth Street.

Kim – who is your friend?

Chatting with Stephanie. Top Five ever!

Blind pig and Maggie moo got the majority of attention for the night. Coyote ugly girls looked like a dancing massage parlor employee meetings. Other bars were full and not so appealing. And BP/mm had a rooftop. Sold. We ran into Stephanie Fletcher and watched snowboarding before the main event back at the hotel at 3am.

3am photo in front of the fountain time!

I don’t even know which room the royal rumble took place in but I feel as though I should have paid money for being there. I know Daemon did. He was like a kid crashing a drunken slumber party on his birthday. I think he finished twice.  Kidding but you get the idea…  LOL. The DNC and the ninja slipper clan running amuck in Austin. Good times!

Drunken Ninja Slipper Cheer Squad!

LOL. Y’all should see the picture after this one. Silly!

Drunk-jitsu!

Drunken Kimmie-Face!

Time for the boat party! Saturday morning brought along the challenges of hangovers, finding directions, and driving the hour or so to the lake in a mad dash to get there on time. The ninja slippers rode the scenic route with Andy and I. We got to the boat front marina with time to spare. We settled into our spot on the 2nd level of the ark as the captain shouted his directions. The lax rules certainly paved the way for our good times as we sailed away to devil’s cove.

Arriving at Boat Front Docks.

Preparations.

Leaving Devil’s Cove

Its funny how the boat party makes up the least memories I had for the weekend… Maybe it was because it was an alcohol-induced good time! In any case, thank God for having friends with cameras! We enjoyed the scenery and got tanked both in and out of Lake Travis. Many a Joel shot accompanied the beer and Eric’s go-go juice made the sun bearable. By the time it was all over, our sun-dried minds were filled with mush. Lake Travis had done its job.

The view from Oasis

Now we managed to make it to Oasis for our post-lake vittles. It looked pretty cool out there like we were on a Greek Island getaway but it was also hot as hell. And to that end, getting back to home base became top priority.

Sauna, pool, steam room, hot tub, shower room. Not necessarily in that order and some more than others but that pretty much made the early evening at the Hilton. We actually got ready and headed out close to 11pm.

Sarah, Kim, Lyndie, Sarah

The library was okay but the real fun was to be had on 4th street at Qua. I still can’t believe that an ATX club would have a shark and stingray filled aquarium under the dance floor but that was pretty fun. We all got pretty tanked before the pedi-cab mad dash back to the hotel.

Caution: Shark in the dance floor!

The rest of the early morning gets cloudy. I know I didn’t get to go to bed until almost morning. I managed to catch Sarah and Lydnie out and about with Rafael Rojas. I didn’t see Luis de la Fuente and almost fell asleep on the hallway floor. Apparently, the hallway got pretty tore up and someone was escorted back to his or her room. And lastly, a DNC member put on a ninja slipper and woke up with a bible next to his head.

Best hangover cure in the world – the DNC spa treatment and a breakfast buffet at iron cactus. Mission accomplished. Back to Houston. The end.

Mancations, Eeyore’s Music Festival, and Many Random People

July 17, 2008

The weekend had gone on non-stop since Thursday. And finally, my one chance at a moment of reflection came and went as I drifted off to sleep upon trying to write this blog last night. So here is a brief recap.

Tipsy Thursday – Fun, Fun, Fun time. Paula, Kris, and I paved our own way as we went and hung out with Ryan and crew at Bronx Bar in the village. Not surprisingly, we spent most of the night getting bumped into and also messing with Devin and Fallon, Bronx’s own goofy ass dancing bartenders. In another note, Kris scared a little girl. She looked young so he asked to I.D. her. She asked, “oh no, are you TABC?” In response he said, “I’m TABC certified, let me see your I.D. now.” She relented. lol.

Fizzy Friday – After a kickass training class at work, I went home to witness some very devious plotting by my devious DNC-ers. We had been egging on J-Mac, Kim, and their crew for over a week now re: kicking their tails in beer pong. We definitely got more than what we bargained for in that they (sans J-Mac), along with about 10 others, came over for a night of drinking and debauchery. By the end of the deal, a couple of us were sprawled along the sectional sofas, couches, and beds around the house… passed out in all our drunken glory.

Mancation Saturday – Imagine my surprise when I awoke in the morning in all my… drunken glory … Our new friends that passed out at the house had left for home at daylight so Chad, Brad, Kris, and I decided to book it to Austin, TX for Fraturday Saturday. We actually went around the whole world, or at least San Marcos, before making it ATX at about 4pm to check into the Intercontinental Hotel. (more on that later) The ride there Austin was actually fairly eventful, as Kris got dookie on his shorts… Don’t ask..

Anyways, to the music festival! – We met Sarah and friends at the park opposite Breckenridge Hospital for the Lonestar State Jam, a country marley-esque music festival of TX artists on Eeyore’s Birthday. We hung out there for the bulk of the afternoon, listening to Cross Canadian Ragweed, Roger Creager, Corrow Morrow, etc. and hijacking Sarah’s beach towel sitting area in the process. Ran into RJ and a few others before eating brisket sandwiches and hopping into our cab chariot to get back to the hotel, where we jumped in the hot tub and then the sauna to sweat out all the alcohol.

After our brief reprieve in room 1201, we headed out to 6th Street and started off the night at Blind Pig. We ran into a few friends and met some new ones. The ferry and Wilma Flinstone were ones we’d run into later as well. Point is, after Blind Pig, Maggie May’s, Shakespeare’s, and perhaps another bar or pizza or three, the four of us ended up meeting three sisters from Wisconsin who walked us back to the hotel, where Brad lay watching television as a drunk girl took liberties with our bathroom. Not a pretty sight but a sight nonetheless. A few minutes of drunken BedJitsu later (uhm.. Kris & Chad…) and we were passed out all over the place.

Sunday Funday – Chad, Kris, and I spent about 45 mins. in the sauna to start off our day. Some guy was totally cheesing out and kissing our ass in the sauna room while his girlfriend sat there watching the man-love. I mean, what an awkward moment… lol… But in any case, we had breakfast at Posse East, which was an awesome place that Katie took us to after we hung out at her apartment watching Man vs. Wild and listening to her talk about journals for a good hour. Got back to Houston around 4pm and had dinner at mom and dad’s when it was all said and done.

I’m sure something was lost in translation for this badass weekend but what can ya do…. I’ll let the pics tell my stories.

Lonestar Beatdown 4 and an Austin Vacation Weekend

July 17, 2008

We took an awesome vacation this weekend!

Well…. not quite THAT awesome but we did manage to party in four cities in one day!

From Lonestar in College Station to Houston to San Marcos to Austin to San Marcos to Houston!

You know there are people who always say they are tired of ‘the routine’ and are going to do something new crazy and exciting. Yet they usually end up doing the same old BS time after time after time…

And then those like us who just live in the moment and always have fun.

“You know we just don’t recognize the most significant moments of our lives while they’re happening. Back then I thought, well, there’ll be other days. I didn’t realize that; that was the only day.” – Field of Dreams

The weekend officially kicked off on Thursday with Joe Rogan’s stand up comedy show at Laffstop. He and The Amazing Racist were hilarious! And I guess we were too! By the time left that night, we had our very own fans thinking we were famous. LMAO @ silly starfucker girls! “Are you famous?” … lol.

Friday after a good day at work, my bro and I booked it to college station for Lonestar Beatdown. Little did we know that we were going to be the official timekeepers for the event. It definitely got really real when we got ringside and saw the cowbell, bullhorns, crowbars, and stopwatches. We did an A+ job, if I may say so myself. In any case, after 14 fights and several shots & beers afterward, we ended up tearing up Northgate until a pizza-devouring Eric Williams came by to collect his drunken students.

We stayed at the Hilton which seems like status quo for our out of town trips. Saturday morning was going to be sauna/hot tub relaxation time but we decided on going back to houston instead. We were back in town for a grand total of two hours. Just enough time to do laundry and pick up some stuff. Next thing you know and we were off to continue the mini-vacation weekend in San Marcos and Austin!

Saturday ended up being awesome also! Did the college thing. Saw a bunch of peeps we hadn’t seen in awhile. Adrian, Chris, Sam, Heather, Allison, Caitlyn, etc. etc. Everyone ending up driving to Austin where we met up with a bunch of people on 6th. street. After the Library, Aquarium, Moose Knuckle, and Maggie Mays, we ended out the night watching Bono in concert! I don’t even remember the ride back to San Marcos.

Anyways, back in Houston now. Going to end up the weekend with Sunday Funday Somewhere. Beautiful weather out….

January in Austin

July 17, 2008

2008 has been a blast so far….

We like to take an out-of-town vacation at least once or twice every quarter. This year, we started it off we a random excursion to Austin, TX… Now we didn’t leave until Saturday BUT we did start partying on Friday so the weekend’s vacation was somewhat semi-local. Here are the pics.

Rockband on Friday started off the weekend.

From then, it was off to Wild West to party with Liz Rose and Boles and the girls.

Kris and Jessica.

The Three Amigos.

On Saturday, Chad, Kris, and I made it to Austin by 8pm, but only after a four hour detour into Schulenburg. Apparently my brother is not all the best for directions.

We met up with like 30 ppl and missed about 10 more but we started off with meeting up with Corey at the Blind Pig after checking in to our room at the Hilton.

Speaking of which, here is a pic of the mini bar.

And our view from 1218 was AWESOME.

The hot tub was tapped out though… 😦

At least the beds were fun to jump on.

Ally, Heather, and Cojo. Heather is the sweetest for buying us all shots. Aww.

Pink Belt and Yellow Belt.

Chad and I with our new friends.

Drunken Peddie Cab Ride back to the hotel.

Our trusty driver.

Optimus Fire Truck – It is HARD to time taking a picture of a speeding sirening fire truck from a moving peddie cab. I got it in one shot.

Jumping off the water wall.

Surprise! Ninjas in the elevator!

Drunken Fight after Speakeasy.

Kris stole my pizza so I had to take him out.

We have weird sleeping rituals.

I levitate nightly before bed.

Enough is enough. Time to limbo back to Houston.

BTW…

We haven’t seen the DNC Co-Founder out since 2007. Is he in LA? New York? Hawaii? An underground bunker downtown? Put his face on a milk carton!
