Elite MMA RollerDerby Day

July 17, 2008

For those of you that view my friends and I as one-dimensional party animals, I couldn’t blame you. But I also believe that its prudent of me to make sure that all of you have the right impression and the “Drunken Ninja Clan” and myself. After all, our ranks include some of the most extremely successful doctors, lawyers, executives, engineers, intelligence analysts, security agents, etc. We’re not crazy. We just happen to LOVE life and have more fun than most. If that gives you a negative impression then so be it. After all, living “carpe diem” is exactly what this life should be about. Its just a shame that ALL of you can’t keep up.

Now that my little rant is over, I can share yesterday with y’all. The Elite Family took our kids for a little excursion to the Roller Skating Rink for a very good time. Now, like most of us, I spent some of the better parts of my youth learning how to rollerblade and figuring out how to ask the cute girl for a couple-skate. I never remembered skating being this painful though. My feet were numb all the way into the evening. And after the skating, we enjoyed a DELICIOUS bbq at Elite HQ before taking the time to cheer Randy and St. Pierre onto victory. And yes, we did end up closing off the evening at Sherlock’s, where I inducted two new DNC members with a few rounds of 3-wisemen. Chad and I tried our best pick-up lines on ugly girls while simultaneously giving a hard time to Tessa’s sister. And Chris…. Well, he was doing alright trying to pick up the lesbian until the girl’s girl came up and ate his heart with her vicious words.

In conclusion, Saturday, and this weekend in general, has been a good look at what’s important in life. I love my friends, miss my family , and hold dear EVERYTHING that’s important. From taking the kids roller-skating to closing out the night at my place acting crazy with friends and everything in between… everything has a place.

Renegades & Afterparty at Fix

July 17, 2008

Renegades on Saturday night was non-eventful. My hats off to Tim Snyder, who beat our man Steve Garcia for the featherweight title. No excuses from the boys at Elite MMA. Steve trained hard and was dictating the fight for the better part of 3 rounds but got caught with a well-placed left hook that hit on the button. What can you do you know? We as a group didn’t even stay for the rest of the event. In fact, I was bummed and didn’t event want to party at all at first. But well… let’s just say we mourned our loss at Fix.

‘Lonestar Beatdown 3’ Back in College Station

July 17, 2008

Wow, what a fun, frenzied, and furious weekend it has been so far!

After a very busy week, I hurried home to meet up with Andy & Spencer to head up to College Station for Lonestar Beatdown 3, promoted by Elite MMA and Mick Maynard. We ducked, dipped, and dodged our way through Houston rush hour traffic and got to College Station just in time to get to our posts. I had to role of guarding the blue corner and walking fighters to the ring. 15 fights, good friends, and a fun night taking over College Station..

Here are the pics from the night…

Elite MMA In-House Tournament

July 17, 2008

The weekend of the in-house submission grappling tournament turned out to be a wonderful success. Thanks to Chris R, Steve Garcia, Eric, and all the others that contributed to the event. Hopefully all the competitors, win or lose, gained some good experiences from participating. Awesome job to both teams and everyone who helped put it together! It was a lot of fun!

After the fights and food, some of the team came over to watch BJ Penn hand Jens Pulver his ass and drink the night away. That was before our three vehicle caravan followed me to pick up Laura M, who I missed dearly and is back from Boston. We head off downtown to the Roof, where we spent the rest of the night enjoying shot after shot en route to the laziest Sunday of our lives. We finished off the weekend watching Entourage, which might have been the most productive thing we did yesterday…

Vincent and Steve had an awesome match to kick off the action for the adults!
